Growing up in a tough neighborhood with few role models, Eric Cole learned early that intellectual curiosity was both his refuge and his edge. Despite being tracked below his ability level in school, he taught himself to self-direct — correcting his own teachers, seeking out mentors, and ultimately pivoting from architecture to computer science after getting his hands on a Commodore 64 and never looking back. What looked like an unconventional path was actually the foundation of a career built on seeing what others miss.

Eric joined the CIA's Counterterrorist Center where he built neural networks to predict terrorist behavior — work that contributed directly to capturing high-value targets and earned recognition from both the Director of Central Intelligence and the President of the United States. He collaborated with Tim Berners-Lee at MIT on early web security architecture, deployed systems internationally in some of the world's most sensitive environments, and ran security operations across the NSA, FBI, and the White House. Long before cybersecurity was a boardroom conversation, Eric was living it in the field.

Leaving government behind, Eric applied his operational mindset to the private sector — and built an extraordinary track record. He helped spin out an AI cybersecurity company that sold to SAIC for ~$55M, grew revenues at TSGI to roughly $500M in under three years through a patent-first government contracting strategy, and drove the IP argument that led Intel to acquire McAfee for approximately $2.1 billion. He also authored six SANS Institute courses and helped build the field's most respected defensive training programs. In every role, Eric turned technical credibility into strategic leverage.

Eric founded Secure Anchor Consulting to do something the industry rarely does: give organizations honest, prioritized, actionable guidance — not generic frameworks. Built around a proven methodology developed across decades of real-world experience, Secure Anchor helps companies prevent breaches, detect intrusions, and respond to advanced threats before they become catastrophes. It remains the operational home base from which Eric does his most important work — advising organizations at the highest levels on the threats that matter most.
